"The hotel got some nice videos by travellers. The private bath is always busy. The free sweets is provided in certain period & it is hard not to miss it. Ramen is provided in certain period in the same small room for the welcome tea. (the lady serve the welcome snack doesn't look very happy). there was a long queue & the room is very crowded. My teenager daughter just couldn't be bothered & gave it up. The serving staff are friendly but it still feels awkward to queue for the free Ramen.
The public bath is very nice.
The room looks nice. Toilet is away from washing basin, makes it feel weird because you can't wash your hands right after. It is hard to sit on the couch to use the coffee table so we sit on the tatami, however there is no sitting cushion. Overall we think the room is more about looks & Japanese feel, rather than function focus.
Our room faces the train station. A window sheer would be nice to gain lights & privacy at the same time.
The corridor is set nicely in Japanese style. The hotel is quiet despite the Ramen chaos. We didn't hear any train noise. that's very impressive.
We didn't feel anything particular about Japanese hospitality. We see some housekeeping staff for a couple of times. No one bothers to look at us at all, even though we are ready to say good morning. Compared with three western style hotels we stayed in this trip, this is quite surprising."
"Perfect room for a family of four with four extremely comfortable single beds and 2 bathrooms as well. Excellent location and facilities and great design and vibe. Highly recommend. "
"I'm so happy that we picked this hotel. While not the least expensive place in Kyoto, it was definitely worth the money spent. Our room was not facing the street, so bear that in mind since it is located on a busy street. The room was very quiet and very clean. We had a three bed hotel room and they provided a sleepshirt/yukata for each member of the family. The bathroom very clean and had one of the Toto bidet seats which was a plus for my wife.
The room itself was pretty roomy for a Japanese hotel.
The staff was extremely helpful. My limited Nihongo would have been issue, but fortunately several of the staff spoke English.
The big plus was that the hotel had a European style bakery (Cicon), so you could have a light breakfast and coffee. The baguette was nice. They also have some unique Japanese flavored breads for sale. If you're adventurous, go for it.
There is also a rooftop bar, but it was busy the time we visited so we didn't get a chance to sit up there.
There is a self paid laundry on site.
The hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the Kiyomizu temple and a 7 minute walk to the Kyomizu-Gojo subway station, so your tourist spots are very walkable via the local transportation.
Oh, btw, there is a nice India/Bagladeshi restaurant called Chakra around the block. The owner speaks english and we had a great conversation with him."
"Large hotel with amazing views of the lake. However amenities a little dated. We felt the beds and the lounge area in our room could have been swapped around to get the best view when relaxing with a drink rather than while asleep. Excellent location despite a little long walk to the station ( realise there was a shuttle available but prefer to walk) Bathroom needs an upgrade."
"Having a private bath in the patio was great. Staff was courteous and friendly, the food was excellent, and having three different open air hot spring was a plus. Ideal for solo travelers."
