Beds were good and comfortable. Couch had visible sizable stains. Desk top was dirty. Bathroom baseboards dirty. Lock on bathroom door didn’t work. The main problem was the hotel was very full and half of the elevators didn’t work (2 of 4). Waiting a number of minutes to get to the lobby from the 12th floor resulted in us going up to go down. A couple of elevators stopped to reveal they were full. Was told if we took the stairs, at the bottom when exiting we would set off an alarm. So we went up on an ascending elevator to go down. Location is great.

Hotel is in a fantastic location just blocks from city hall and Rittenhouse Square. Super clean onsite valet parking with in and out privileges and a coffee bar and Ruth’s Chris located in the lobby of the hotel. It’s definitely going to be my go to for Philly from now on.

The room was clean. But there was no heat and it was freezing. We got creative and used a hair dryer to stay warm. There was one night that there was this smell permeating from somewhere else. The smell reminded me of the sewer. The odor was stromg. Also, I heard one of the guests say she was stuck in the elevator. It was a meh kind of stay.

The room had animal hair of some kind inside, which triggered my allergies. The amenities were stocked but the hair conditioner bottle was empty. There are 2 thin blankets covering the beds; when we called and asked for extra blankets we were told there weren’t any more. No apology, no offer of an alternative, just no. There was a sports team staying on our floor and they were screaming in the hallway until well into the night—talking loudly, scaring each other and shrieking—just a poor stay overall. I would have called to complain about the noise, but given the poor response to the blanket request and less than average welcome at check in, I didn’t bother. This was our first time in Philly. What a terrible introduction.

Unfortunately, my stay here was not the best. I’ve stayed at other Sonesta’s and this property just did not measure up with the others. Let me begin by saying the check in process was smooth and staff were nice. Some things were not in their control — the hotel was flooded with people for the college basketball games. That’s all well and it did not bother me. However, the groups that were there basically took over all the restaurants, lobby, and personal space like they were the only guests. I had to repeatedly ask another guest who was on the phone talking loudly to kindly step away from my personal space twice — any closer he would’ve been on my lap. Along with few others who just had too much to drink. Extremely loud atmosphere. Had I known that the groups would be staying here, I’d pick a different property - my fault for not doing more research on the most popular week of March. Second, because of these large groups, it took several minutes and passed elevators for me to get to my 23rd floor. Everyone trying to jam in and then once I finally got an elevator, there was a stop at almost every floor. Needless to say, we were squished like sardines in the elevator and it took much longer to get up to your room than usual. Once I checked into my room, the floor felt sandy, there was hair in the bathroom sink, and the shelves had a ton of dust. Overall just felt like it had not been cleaned well. Not typical for Sonesta. Very disappointed.

I stay at this hotel every time I am in town, which is at least a few times a year for several years now. Always had great experiences until this time. Several things were missing from the room and there were no blankets on the beds. I requested blankets twice and finally was brought an extra sheet for each bed. There were no signs in the room for no housekeeping request. The staff was not as friendly as usual. It was just not the same as my normal experience. I may look for a new go to property in the area for my next stay.
