A really neat property! Love the decor and the size of the rooms! Staff was friendly and greeted us each time we entered the lobby! Breakfast was good and coffee was excellent!!! Location was convenient to downtown restaurants and stores. Highly recommend!!

Lovely stay at The Ansonborough. Definitely sign up for the optional upgrade if it’s offered to you. I’ve stayed in many hotels across the United States, Canada and Europe. The Ansonborough has to be in the top 3 places I’ve ever stayed. We stayed in the Admiral’s Suite which was spacious and well appointed. I loved that the bathroom featured large bath sheets large enough to dry and cover a larger sized adult. So often hotels have tiny and useless towels. The bed was very comfortable and the room was clean. We had a spacious kitchen with a breakfast bar and dining area. There was a Keurig and a small refrigerator. I was a little surprised that there wasn’t a microwave with all the kitchen space. We had a comfortable sitting area which included a gas fireplace. Breakfast was different each morning and includes yogurt, fresh melon, oatmeal, English muffins & bagels. Coffee was available 24/7. The front desk staff was very welcoming and provided directions & restaurant recommendations. The hotel is directly across from a Harris Teeter in case you forget something or want some snacks. Parking is $35 per day which seems to be pretty standard in Charleston. The location is close to the aquarium, Ft.Sumter Museum, City Market, the horse drawn carriages and other attractions. We have some limitations walking and found these destinations to be very walkable from the hotel. There were many benches and places to rest if needed. We look forward to returning soon.

Location: not directly in the middle of it all but close enough to not deal with traffic and have a short walk to a lot of major checklist places. The Hotel: very cool place in an old build g with lots of charm. Boutique style so not a lot of rooms and people. Manny was a great bartender and the rest of the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The Room: very cozy with plenty of space and amenities. No complaints about the comfort of the bed either. We slept great. The Con: the only con I had was that you can hear the neighbors at night. But like any other space. When the noise stops, you hear a pin drop. Not enough to wake us up, but noticeable. No you can’t hear the guy next to you snoring, but you hear the doors shut and the toilet flush. Lol. Overall a great stay and highly recommended.

This is a unique old industrial building that was converted into an interesting boutique hotel. Ceilings are very high and rooms spacious. Be aware though this hotel is located at the intersection of East Bay St and Hassel St where there is a traffic light. This creates lots of noise on any room on the East Bay St. Side. Many others have complained about noise and when I asked at check in if our room was quiet the staff member assured us it was a very nice room. It was however on the very corner of the intersection and noise was significant. The windows are historic, and they were very dirty and looked like they had been covered in sea spray. The roof deck is also one its best amenities however the cushions and umbrella fabric were in poor condition. They do have Pilates classes on some evenings so it interferes with guests using the space. Breakfast is prepared and hot but very limited and on some days you may need to wait 15 minutes until a new batch is cooked. This hotel is only a 10 minute walk to the Waterfront Park, Market St, and the ferry to Ft. Sumter, making it a good location. The suites have no glassware or utensils or microwave so the bar/kitchenette is not that useful. So, while this hotel has some good features, the management needs to improve on its deck and breakfast and guests should be only stay if they are not on the East Bay Street side.

This hotel was in an amazing location. It is walking distance from everything. It has a quaint and charming feel. Rooms were big and bed was comfortable. Shower was very nice. Breakfast was a disaster. There was one woman working and not enough breakfast to feed everyone. A small hot plate would go out and then it would be empty fairly quick. 3 days/ 3 days waited. The other days I didn’t bother to go. Coffee ran out as well. This may not have been the case earlier in the am. This was around 9 am. The room did have a certain motel smell to it. Overall the actual room was very nice with loft ceilings. The walls are very thin. I could hear the person next to us cough like they were in our room and their tv. The front desk staff was 50/50. 50 percent were overly helpful and amazing! Went out of their way to help you. The other half seemed annoyed at questions and dismissive and even rude.

There was a problem with having enough toilet paper for the visit. We had to call down twice about it. The breakfast is dismal and they were out of coffee quickly and no one around to refill.
