De foto’s op de site geven niet de werkelijke staat van de accommodatie weer. Het was zeer klein, niet vies maar ook niet schoon. Klein bed met slechte veren. De algemene staat van onderhoud is zeer slecht. De tijd heeft jaren stilgestaan.

Not enough receptionists leading to long waits. Room has no outlet next to the bed, holes in the bathroom wall, a cracked window pane, and a really odd mix of decor. But it was clean a fit for purpose if you’re only staying the night and want to experience an old famous building. The common areas are fantastic.

We had booked what we thought was a higher end hotel, well we paid a higher price for our twin room. The first room we were given was room 116 and was tiny, the window started about 7 feet up and so had no view or air in the room. The bed frames were frayed and very dated. The walls and very high ceiling looked like it had previous damp. We were moved to another room 516, equally small but had a window to let some air in as it was so hot. All facilities were basic and tired. The breakfast was mass presumed, for a hotel this size there could have been fresh coffee, not out of machine. There was plenty of choice but all very basic, cheap ingredients and the cooked breakfast was obviously massed cooked and lacked the finish to make it a good breakfast (over fried hash browns, dry sausage and black pudding, weird half fried half poached egg) The grand lounge was indeed grand, the wine in the bar was good value £24 for a bottle of NZ Sauvignon. It felt to me like a very budget hotel with high ceilings and a few chandeliers. I would not recommend here which is a shame as this could be an excellent hotel.

The rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. Ideal to be close to the bars, shops and train station. The price I paid for a bank holiday weekend was fairly cheap for 2 nights. The rooms do need a revamp as they look outdated like rooms from the 80's but still is place to lay your head for the night. Maybe add an extra pillow too each bed

Really close to everything you need spot on for that . Staff so helpful , good deal for late check out , includes drinks and breakfast well worth it as good quality breakfast and drinks in bar . Rooms need a massive overhaul lots of space but beds uncomfortable and paint peeling everywhere in room . En suite clean and tidy

Booking in was fine, although the key to the door didn't work, we were on the 5th floor so a bit of a treck back to the reception. We were not given any information about where the bar or dining room was. We had to ask where the bar was situated. The bar was well equipped with darts and pool table, comfortable setting. The room was clean, not a lot of staff around but there were 4 functions on that weekend, we were not informed or involved prior to booking. Very noisy at night, understandable as there had been a party, but a random dog barking in the corridor at 3 am I thought was a little too much.

We had two seperate stays. The first was on the fifth floor in a room that was not updated and rather dismal. There was a metal window or door banging on the second night that work is up, went unresolved and meant we need to get key to another room to get sleep. Second stay was a single night on third floor in updated room at back of hotel. Nice. No banging. Location is great near train station. History and lobby are interesting. Staff were good and professional

There were people screaming outside the room at 2am and I could hear the lifts moving all night which made it impossible to sleep for more than 2 hours. Couldn’t get through to the lobby when I called trying to amend this issue. The toilet rolls were already 70% used when we arrived. 2 single beds pushed together despite requesting a double bed. Everything would have been excusable if I could actually get some sleep. Very low quality experience, especially for the price. The hotel itself looks nice is you aren’t staying, I regret staying here.
